Hello! I am Jennifer Garland, and I am excited to be Scott's school counselor this year. Believe it or not, I started as a student teacher at Scott back in 1993. After quite a journey, I am ready to begin my 29th year in education -back where it all began.
I graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a middle school endorsement in English/language arts. I later received my master’s degree in elementary education from the University of Southern Indiana. I then went on to obtain an administration and supervision license from Indiana State University. One of the many reasons I have enjoyed learning and growing within the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is that I have had the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles. I have taught several grade levels ranging from 1st grade through 8th grade. I have also been an instructional coach, professional development specialist, school counselor, and principal. I have loved every minute of my time in these roles and feel fortunate that I have been able to serve students, families, and staff members in a variety of ways. My husband, Bryon, and I have two daughters. Victoria (19) is a student at Murray State University where she plays softball and studies biology with a pre-med focus. Alexandra (16), is a student at Reitz High School, but she also attends the Medical Professions Academy at Central for part of the day. I can usually be found at the ballpark or near a volleyball court watching my girls do what they love - playing softball and volleyball. Whenever I have a few moments to myself, I listen to music, read an engaging book, binge watch a new series on Netflix, or snuggle with our sweet cats, Albert and Ella. I am thrilled to work with the students and families at Scott Elementary School! |
